Each year, March 8 marks a moment to celebrate women’s achievements, remember their struggle for equal rights and bring attention to all the steps still necessary for their full emancipation.

After being excluded from most countries’ armies for the better part of history, women soldiers emerged in the twentieth century as heroic figures who we really believe deserve the spotlight on this day. In World of Tanks Modern Armor, we celebrate them by creating Commanders inspired by them and their achievements, so we can remember them by fighting by their side in battle!

Darya Kholodova is a new fictional 3D Premium Commander based on the history of Soviet female soldiers, who were active participants in the Red Army even before the Union was formed, distinguishing themselves for their bravery on the battlefield. During World War II, hundreds of thousands of Soviet women were part of the military, and many of them took on active combat roles.

Inspired by classic women empowerment posters, Darya Kholodova is authoritative, she highly values her crew, and she’s determined to lead you to victory. And--she’s voiced by a member of the Chicago studio!
