Matchmaking

How Matchmaking Works

World of Tanks Console does not provide an exactly even balance of teams. Instead, we put players in relatively even situations that might well have occurred on actual World War II battlefields (excluding the fact of mixing vehicles of different nations in one team).

Team selection for Random Battles is made according to several parameters. Each battle takes place in a so-called battle tier, and team balancing within this battle tier takes place according to vehicle-specific weighting and additional restrictions. However, it does not consider the skill of the player.

Furthermore, this is a team game, meaning a single vehicle is often less effective alone on the battlefield. Tactical planning and its execution can often give an advantage, even to weaker teams.

We strongly encourage players to take this approach to battle. For example, if you were to de-track an enemy tank and a teammate destroys it, you will gain additional experience. Also, you can help provide cover fire or help flush out the tank into the line of sight of higher-tier guns. We recommend using this tactic, for it is usually effective, and allows your teammates on the battlefield to help you in return.

The terrain is also another important aspect of the game. Victory depends a lot on the effective use of your surroundings (including cover, concealment, avenues of approach, fields of fire, and key terrain).
