Tank origin
The last vehicle in the IS line, the IS-10 was renamed the T-10 after Stalin’s death and accepted into service in 1953. The role of this large tank, which featured a 122mm gun, was to provide long-range fire support for T54/55 vehicles. The T-10B variant was introduced in 1957, offering two-plane gun stabilization and improved sighting. The T-10 and its variants remained in use until 1997.
