After work began on the FV4201 Chieftain in the early 1950s, efforts were made to make the armaments of the FV4201 Chieftain and the American T95 tanks (including their turrets) interchangeable. Eventually, however, the T95 project was cancelled due to technical limitations, and the compatibility studies were not pursued further.
