Join Jack Frost to battle Krampus and the Ice Queen’s forces using your own tanks, and get rewarded with a Community Challenge!
Come December 23, the Toy Tanks will roll back into their garages in Santa’s Workshop, where Santa’s elves will pound out their dents, buff out their scratches, touch up their paint, and get them ready for next winter, when they’ll battle beneath the tree once more.
Between us, Commanders, it’s a good thing they’re returning. We’ve received some terrifying intel:
The Ice Queen isn’t ready to admit defeat—and she’s made a new friend.
So gear up. On December 23, Toy Tanks mode ends for the year, and The Ice Queen’s Blade sweeps in to strike!
Click below or read on for details about this special narrative PvE event.
The Story
After defeating the Ice Queen, Santa imprisoned her in Frostbite Castle and sealed her inside with magic. Yet though she was weak, she was not without power.
The Ice Queen used her remaining strength to summon another who served the cold, but could travel through portals where she could not: Krampus.
Leading the Queen’s minions and channeling the power of ice with her magic sword, Krampus is set to spread winter’s chill wherever he goes in search of naughty children… even to familiar battlefields.
But Santa’s clever friend, Jack Frost, who also serves the cold but loves the lighthearted fun of it, caught wind of the Ice Queen’s plans. He has warned Santa, because even a trickster like Jack would rather melt away under a blazing summer sun than see the holidays ruined.

Now it’s up to you: join Jack to help Santa save the winter holidays once more!
How to Play
In these battles, you’ll be facing a formidable army, led by an adversary who’s been inflicting punishment on the world’s wickedest children for centuries.
That means that you’ll need some serious firepower, so unlike last year’s Ice Queen battles, for The Ice Queen’s Blade, you’ll use your own tanks. Premium or Tech Tree tanks, old or new—all are welcome to fight as long as they fit the criteria below!
| World War II | Cold War |
|---|---|
|
Tiers VIII – X |
Post War (Era 1) |
|
Light Tanks Heavy Tanks Medium Tanks Tank Destroyers |
All tank classes |
|
Artillery is NOT allowed |
Also allowed: the NEW Winter Warrior tank |
(Note: the queues for the World War II battles will be separate from the Cold War battle queues. You will not see players from both modes in the same match.)
To join these battles, head to the game’s mode select screen, look for “Winter Fest,” and choose whether you want to play World War II or Cold War tanks.
You can also use the Winter Fest shortcut you’ll see in the upper-left corner of your garage, or select "Play" on the “Winter Fest” tab in the game. These shortcuts will take you to the Event Battle garage for the mode (World War II or Cold War) you had been in.
You’ll be fighting on a team of 10, but you’re not just headed to a winter wonderland. In fact, Krampus has already wreaked havoc with the Ice Queen’s mystic sword on some of our favorite maps!
So your team of 10 will be split up and sent to purge the Ice Queen’s grunts (minions and Yetis) from maps you’ve known and defended before.
You’ll travel from one to the next by collecting the portal shards that enemies drop, bending Krampus’ magic to serve you, and using his portals yourself. Santa’s elves have helpfully drawn you a map (with their own crayons!) so that you can picture the layout of the whole battle; you’ll see this as your minimap.
Once you’ve vanquished the Queen’s forces from our battlefields, you’ll be able to join up with the rest of your team and Jack Frost to fight Krampus at Frostbite Castle!
Here are the phases for each battle:
Area 1 |
|
Destroy the Queen’s minions Collect the shards they drop to open a portal |
Area 2 |
|
Destroy the Queen’s minions Collect the shards they drop to open a portal Caution: Krampus won’t let you through so easily this time… and what’s that smell? |
Area 3 |
|
Help Jack Frost fight and banish Krampus! Caution: Like the Ice Queen, Krampus knows a few tricks to survive—and he’s a master of teleportation. When you see the ground turn red, watch out! |
This is no easy fight, so respawns are enabled. And if you see snowmen on the map… plow into ‘em! We can neither confirm nor deny that they’re spies for the queen, but we can tell you that you’ll get a bonus when you do.
Commander XP earnings will be boosted in The Ice Queen’s Blade. Also, by popular request, Commander XP Boosters will be allowed. Assemble the most powerful group of allies you can imagine.
One more word on the basic event info, Commanders: this year, Santa has declassified information on an individual Challenge that proved most rewarding in the past, so we’re pleased to inform you that Yeti Hunter has returned.
