Dear Commanders,
With the release of the Masters of Mayhem season, we introduced the new Elite Level system.
Following the release, we identified an unforeseen technical issue affecting the initial retroactive calculation of players’ Elite Levels.
What Happened
When the Elite Level system was released, we applied a retroactive calculation to give players credit for eligible battles completed before the feature became available.
Elite Levels are intended to reflect Tank XP earned through regular PvP battles in:
However, the initial retroactive calculation also included Tank XP earned through:
These battle modes were never intended to contribute toward Elite Levels.
As a result, the Elite Levels currently displayed on some vehicles are higher than they should be.
What Are We Doing to Fix It?
On Tuesday, August 4, 2026, we will recalculate the retroactive Elite Levels of affected vehicles.
The recalculation will:
Legacy Elite Vehicle Recognition
Vehicles that had already achieved Elite Status before the Elite Level system was introduced will be recognized as Legacy Elite Vehicles for the retroactive calculation.
These vehicles achieved Elite Status before the Elite Level system existed. Therefore, for this one-time retroactive calculation, all historical PvP Tank XP earned with a Legacy Elite Vehicle will count toward its Elite Level.
This means we will not deduct the PvP Tank XP originally earned while researching and upgrading an eligible Tech Tree vehicle to Elite Status.
Example:
A Tech Tree vehicle required 20,000 Tank XP to research its required upgrades and achieve Elite Status.
The player earned a total of 50,000 Tank XP with that vehicle through regular PvP Multiplayer battles, and the vehicle had already achieved Elite Status before the Masters of Mayhem season began.
Under the standard Elite Level rules, the first 20,000 Tank XP earned while researching the vehicle would not contribute toward Elite Levels.
However, because the vehicle is being recognized as a Legacy Elite Vehicle, all 50,000 PvP Tank XP will be included in its retroactive Elite Level calculation.
Legacy recognition only applies to vehicles that had already achieved Elite Status before August 4, 2026.
Vehicles that achieve Elite Status after the Elite Level system was introduced will follow the standard Elite Level rules.
How Can I Estimate My Retroactive PvP Experience?
Players can visit the Player Stats page and search for their Gamertag:
https://modernarmor.worldoftanks.com/en/stats/players/
After selecting a vehicle, the Experience value displayed on its Stats page can be used as a guide to the historical PvP Tank XP that will be included in the retroactive calculation.
How Will This Affect Your Vehicles?
The impact will depend on where the vehicle’s historical Tank XP was earned.
Your eligible PvP progress is not being removed. The correction will only remove progress that was incorrectly awarded from battle modes that were not intended to contribute toward Elite Levels.
Example:
A vehicle currently displays Elite Level 300.
The Tank XP used to calculate those levels came from:
After the correction, the vehicle will display Elite Level 120, accurately reflecting the player’s eligible PvP Multiplayer progression.
What About Tank XP Earned Since the Season Began?
All PvP experience earned before August 4, 2026, will be applied to your elite level as long as it is elite before the update on August 4, 2026.
Any eligible PvP Tank XP earned between the launch of the season and the correction will continue to count toward your Elite Level progression.
We apologize for the error and for the confusion caused by the currently displayed Elite Levels. Thank you for your patience and understanding while we work to correct the system.
