Immerse yourself in history with a limited-time game mode inspired by the U.S. invasion of Omaha Beach, and take part in an Earn Challenge to claim the Thunderbolt VII and more!
“They fight not for the lust of conquest. They fight to end conquest.”
-President Franklin D. Roosevelt
It was one of the most complicated facets of Operation: Overlord. By all accounts, the section of the Normandy coastline that the Allies referred to as “Omaha Beach” was rugged and challenging, marked by steep cliffs and tight passages that gave the defending German forces a tactical advantage. Staging an assault there would be a test of will.
Yet despite initial losses, the U.S. troops of the of 1st and 29th Infantry Divisions ultimately could call their landing at Omaha Beach a success. By late day on June 6th, 1944, Allied forces had begun to press inland. By the end of the month, they had established their presence in northern France, claiming the strong position they needed to fight back against Germany.
This year marks the 80th anniversary of the historic event we now call D-Day. Honor it in the game by taking part in our D-Day Event!

D-Day Event: The Basics
The D-Day Event is a special game mode that you can access from the game’s start/main menu, similar to how you access other special events like Monster Mash.
In this event, you’ll be playing the role of a U.S. tank commander taking part in the Normandy invasion. That means that you can use only certain types of tanks for this event:
- Only U.S. tanks
- Only tanks from Tiers V and VI
(Tip: Even though the T34 Calliope was not actually deployed on D-Day, it’s excellent for this event!)
Once the match is underway, your mission begins, Commander. You’ll be part of a seven-player team that will have 15 minutes to complete three phases:
1) Clear the Beach
2) Capture the Bases (three bases total)
3) Capture Enemy HQ
Your fight won’t be an easy one. The terrain is treacherous, and German forces will oppose you with every yard you travel. But our boys are depending on you, so make the push, give it your all, and don’t stop until the beach is secure!
You can play the D-Day Event as many times as you want. After each successful completion of the entire event, you’ll receive a D-Day 80th Anniversary Medal.
And after your first victory (and only for the first victory), you’ll also receive a D-Day Event Trophy for your customizable garage.
Other points to note:
- Respawns will be enabled.
- Silver and XP can be earned in this event.
- Repair and resupply costs will apply.
- Platoons will be enabled.
And although valor is its own reward, for those of you who love a good Earn Challenge, we have one tied to this event as well!
D-Day Event: Challenge
This Challenge is set up like many of our other recent special event Challenges. As you complete specific goals during the D-Day Event, you’ll be awarded points.
